Luminary

OK, last post of the day...really.  This luminary was made for the challenge at Stamptacular Sunday Challenge.  Our challenge was to something other than a card!  Well I have to say, I just love making "non-card" items!  I chose to make this luminary, and it was really quite easy.  I found the tutorial for it here.  I made a few alternations to turn it into a luminary.
For my images, I used a technique that my awesome Stampin' Up demonstrator Lisa taught me.  It is called "stained glass".  First you stamp your image on vellum with black ink and emboss it with clear embossing powder, then on the backside you color your image!  Easy!  I used my Stampin' Up markers because I thought they looked better on the vellum.  I then cut out my images and glue dotted them to my shimmery cloth like paper.

The designer paper is from Cosmo Cricket.  I used garland ribbon from Michaels for my tyes, flower are from WOC and snowflakes are K & Company.  The border on the top is a Martha Stewart punch.  I have to say I am quickly becoming a Martha Stewart punch junkie!

thanks for the simple tutorial o "stained glass". Your cards are beautiful, and the stained glass look makes them look so soft.

This is darling. I am particularly drawn to the image where she is holding the gifts behind her back. It looks like she is peaking under the ribbon. Very cute!
